Sports day and National School Sports Week

A Sporty Summer so far at Archibald...

National School Sports Week was a fantastic celebration of physical activity, teamwork, and fun. Throughout the week, children from all year groups participated in a wide variety of sports and games, promoting fitness and cooperation. The main events included exciting games of cricket, rounders, and tennis, where pupils showed great enthusiasm, skill, and sportsmanship.

In cricket, students practiced their batting and fielding techniques, with many showing real promise and focus. Rounders brought energy and laughter, as teams worked together to score points and cheer each other on. Tennis matches allowed children to develop coordination and agility, while also learning the importance of fairness and resilience.

In addition to traditional sports, there were many team-building games designed to strengthen communication, trust, and collaboration among students. Activities such as relay races, problem-solving challenges, and group obstacle courses helped children work together and support one another.

The week was not only about competition but also about encouraging a love for physical activity and the benefits of an active lifestyle. Teachers praised the students’ effort, behaviour, and team spirit throughout the week. National School Sports Week was a resounding success, leaving children inspired, active, and proud of their achievements.

A Fantastic Two Days of Sports Day Fun!

We are thrilled to share how successful and enjoyable our recent Sports Day events were! Over the course of two action-packed days, children from Reception, KS1, and KS2 showcased their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a wide range of exciting track and field events.

The celebrations began with our Reception Sports Day, led brilliantly by Mr. Holman. A big thank you to him for organising such a fun and engaging morning for our youngest pupils. The children took part in a variety of activities that encouraged participation, movement, and most importantly – smiles all around!

As the events continued, KS1 and KS2 pupils had their turn, competing in both track and field events. The energy, enthusiasm, and determination shown by all of the children were truly inspiring. From sprinting and obstacle courses to throwing, jumping, and balancing games, every participant gave their all and supported one another throughout the day.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Gosforth Junior High Academy for the generous use of their fantastic facilities. The support from their sports leaders helped everything run smoothly and contributed to the success of the event. Another big thank you goes to our wonderful PTFA for providing the bibs for the teams. Their support helped bring a sense of team spirit and identity to the day, and we are very grateful for their continued efforts and dedication.

Now, onto the results! A massive well done to Team Grey, who earned the most points in the field events. Their performance was marked not only by athletic skill but also by their caring attitude and courage – values we are so proud to see in our pupils.

Over in the track events, congratulations go to Team Darling, who scored the highest points overall. Their speed, determination, and teamwork were a joy to watch and truly deserving of recognition.

Thank you once again to all the staff, volunteers, parents, and, most importantly, the children for making Sports Day such a memorable event. We look forward to next year with even more excitement.
